Tiruchi to get more anganwadi units

A total number of 200 anganwadi buildings were under construction in the district under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.

The new anganwadi buildings were being constructed at a cost of Rs. 11 crore in various places across the district, an official press release said here.

As many as 69,516 children, 12,039 pregnant women and 11,811 lactating women benefited under the Integrated Child Development Scheme.

The district accounts for a total of 1,850 anganwadi centres, including 1,666 main centres, working vigorously for the holistic development of children.

Of them, 1,828 centres had been provided with gas connection, the release pointed out.

Welfare awareness programmes related to health, sanitation and welfare of adolescent girls were being conducted through the Integrated Child Development Scheme, the official release added.
