Power-loom complex for Tiruchy

The Union Textiles ministry has been focusing on the development of power-loom sector through multi-pronged schemes and interventions, accor-ding to T.L. Balakumar, deputy director and office in-charge, regional office of the Textile Comm issio-ner, Coimbatore. Delivering his presidential address at the inaugural of three-day power-loom textiles expo of fab-rics. garments and made-ups and buyer seller meet-2017, here on Thursday Mr.Balakumar said if anyone came for-ward to start a power-lo-om complex in Tiruchy district with an investment of Rs 100 crore, the Cent-re will extend 90 per cent capital subsidy while the Tamil Nadu Government will extend nine per cent subsidy He called upon the new entrepreneurs to utilise this opportunity.


 In his welcome address G.Kumaravel, assistant director, regional office of the Textile Commissioner, Coimbatore, said the buyer-seller meet was having 25 stalls and the main intention was to familiarize power-loom pro-ducts further and encourage power-looms. Inaugurating the Expo, Tiruchy collector K Rajamani assured that the district administration would have a consultation with the TIDITSSIA' and other industries organisations of the district for setting up of a power-loom complex in the district. He said there were 25 lakh power-looms across the country, of which six lakh sanctioned in Tamil Nadu. The latter accounts for one fourth of India's power-looms, he said. N.Kanagasabapathy, president TIDISSIA, Tiruchy, and A.K.Hussain president of the Tiruchirappalli Textile and Readymade Garments Association also spoke at the function.
