Opinion box to collect views on new syllabus

TEACHERS who missed the peer re-view meeting which was held in the month of July in Chennai by the School Education Department to decide the new set of school syllabus, will find yet another chance to send their ideas through an 'opinion box'. As per Tamil Nadu Government's notification, the opinion box will be installed in all schools across the state, for a week starting from Au-gust 7 and 11. The G.0.99 on May 22, 2017, mentioned that the change in school syllabus is to upgrade the students and to make them better for competitive examinations and it will have a curriculum base which is even more upgraded than Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) syllabus. The G.O. also said that it was been seven years since the new syllabus was implemented in the school education.

The decisions made by State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT)added that an experts committee will be formed to define the syllabus for Class Ito XII under the general academic stream. A meeting was held at Chennai on the third week of July and various opinions were raised. For the teach-ers and experts who missed an opportunity to take part in the meeting, SCERT instructed the District Educational Officer across the state for installing opinion box in school for easing teachers. The box will be installed for four teachers' category namely, Class Ito V, VI to VIII, DC to X, XI to XII. The teachers can drop their idea in the opinion box, later the experts' committee in each district will then scrutinise the collected queries and filter them for further forwarding it to the SCERT. This process will be conducted in the third week of Au-gust. K Ramakrishnan, Chief Educational Officer (CEO) said that he has already asked to install them.
