No Tax collection from Aug 28 to 31

The Tiruchi Corporation has announced that payments of tax dues to the civic body would not be accepted from August 28 to 31 owing to software updating work.

Tax dues to the Corporation are collected through the computerised service centres functioning at the Corporation main office and other parts of the city. Since integrated common web-based software is to be used from September 1, work is underway to update the software of the system. The Corporation’s other Internet-based services would also remain suspended during the period.

Collection of taxes including property and professional tax, drinking water and underground drainage charges and dues under non-tax heads would resume from September 1, a Corporation press said.

Employment registration

Unemployed persons who have failed to renew their registrations with the Employment Office between January 1, 2011 and December 31, 2015 can do it now, according to Collector K. Rajamani.

In a release, Mr. Rajamani said those who wish to avail the opportunity to renew their registration can do so online before November 21. They can also renew their registration by appearing in person or by sending in a request over registered post to the respective District Employment Offices.

Applications for renewals should be accompanied by a photo copy of the Employment Office identification card
